The YMCA University

The International YMCA University of Applied Science for Christian Education and Social- and "Diakonie" (Social Welfare Work)-Management- offers both, the possibility to study either in english or german language. The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association, CVJM Gemany) has 45 Mio. members worldwide in 125 countries and for Germany it is the largest christian-ecumenical youth association with 330.000 members.

The linkage of a christian profile, scientificness and practice-relevance, internationality and the integration of the three disciplines of theology, human-and social science and as well the basics of management outlines the unique feature of the YMCA University Kassel. To meet the demand for professional youth work, the YMCA University offers a scientifically based and at the same time application oriented training. Moreover the study inspires and accompanies own research projects, e.g. on the fields of youth-religiosity and youth-culture. Along with subjects- and methodical expertise the holistic, integrative approach of the YMCA University strengthens the personal, social and spiritual competence. Thereto the following is being mediated as study content:

-theological discernment and competence in preaching,

-ecumenical interreligious and intercultural competence,

-conception and decision-making competence,

-competence for communication and problem resolution,

-self-reflection and evaluation competence.

All of the courses of study lead to the qualification Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
